It was a real treat to photograph these birds in our local pond at a reasonable distance while these Loons were waiting for the lakes to thaw. At least 29 Loons were observed. In one corner of the lake, I saw at least six at close proximity to each other, and once in awhile, they would appear out of the water right next to the shore.
