For the lead photo, as we were approaching near the
Stellar Sea Lions, the Bald Eagle flew in and landed directly above the Sea Lions. For the photos below, the Eagle was perching on a small island next to where the
Harbour Seals were swimming/playing.
Even though Eagles are everywhere in Alaska, just like our Magpies here, they can be skittish, and our tour boat kept the distance to avoid flushing the eagles away. The 400mm lens came in handy, nonetheless. My goal was to photograph one against the beautiful scenery anyway as I have plenty of closeup photos.
