Located 160 km west of Bengaluru, Sharavanabelagola is one of the major Jain pilgrim centers of India. Home to the 57 ft monolithic statue of Gomateshwara (Bahubali) dating back to 981 A.D, Shravanabelagola is an ancient town dating back to 600 A.D based on the various inscriptions.
This large nude statue of Bahubali, a Jain saint, situated on top of Vindhyagiri hill is carved out of a single block of granite.
