Last of my Zen Garden series. Lest anyone thinks those rocks were a happy coincidence, they were not. I placed them there. And replaced them every time the ocean washed them away.

The waves kept erasing the grooves in the sand around the rocks.

Dawn. New beginnings, new hope. So different in feel than a sunset. This is sunrise on January 1, 2012.

I got to Natural Bridges State Park well before dawn, an easy thing to do as I'd just flown home from London the afternoon before and the jet lag ensured I'd be awake by 3:30am. I parked just outside the park behind a young couple apparently sleeping in their car. I had the beach to myself and I set up on the rock shelves to the north end of the beach. The light came up quickly, but there were no clouds at all and no fog. Nothing to catch the light and give some drama. So I concentrated on reflections of the sea arch on the wet sand.
