This is an ordinary shot of a bird that I rarely get to photograph.

As a boy, I could easily find Song Thrush nests with a clutch of pale blue eggs. They were easy to distinguish from a Blackbirds nest because they would be lined with mud.

Sadly, they are a rare visitor to my garden now. The only time I stand a chance of a shot is if we get a covering of snow.

This year we had just a couple of days of snow here in the south when the lawn had a light covering.

I baited the lawn with raisins and apples and the winter thrushes soon arrived.

A couple of Redwings started stripping the ivy berries and a dozen Blackbirds were soon scrapping with four Fieldfares.

Two Song Thrushes were the last to arrive. My friends Bob and Paul came over to make the most of the occasion.

Bob arrived just in time because the snow was thawing quickly and was disappearing in the short time he was here.

By the morning the snow had gone - and so had all the birds.
