Tourists wait for the 2nd-to-last cruise boat to leave for iconic Spirit Island. I was on the last boat of the year. The crew celebrated the end of the season with jumping in the chilly lake and allowing us a few more precious minutes to enjoy Spirit Island.
Visitors can explore the lake from the comfort of glass-enclosed and heated cruise boats while a knowledgeable guide retells Maligne’s history and explains its geology, wildlife, weather, flora and fauna. If near Jasper, the cruise is highly recommended.
A few more pics from the cruise in comments.
Thanks for your visit. Always appreciated!
Have a wonderful week!

Looking north up this special river from Mt. Kerskelin Goat Lick Viewpoint. No mountain goats this day but the view was wonderful.
"The Athabasca River is the longest river in Alberta (1,538 km). The Athabasca River headwaters are located on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains , at the Columbia Icefield. The first 168 km (located in Jasper National Park) are designated as a Canadian Heritage River. As a tributary to the Mackenzie River, water flowing on the Athabasca River eventually drains into the Arctic Ocean."

Happy Winter Solstice Day, the shortest day of the year.
Let the longer days begin!
Earth’s axis has an around 23-degree tilt and without this, not only would our planet not have a Winter Solstice, it would not have seasons at all.
Without the axial tilt, the sun would remain directly above the Equator, and everywhere on the planet would receive the same amount of light the year through.
Scientists are not entirely sure how the tilt occurred, but they think that billions of years ago, as the solar system was taking shape, the Earth was subject to violent collisions that caused the axis to tilt.
And brings us that much closer to Spring!
For our friends in the southern hemisphere Autumn begins.

Hint, they're on your right...
Actually the primary target was up the road on the left, a huge bull elk (shown in comments). I was first one, didn't take long before more stopped.
His girls were gathered around my car paying us no mind. The bull was warier keeping more distance. They must get tired of this.
Taken just north of Jasper AB. The place to be during the rut in the fall.
Thanks for taking a look!
