A stormy day at this special wildlife preserve. Stormy + Alaska = most days. Provides nice drama and keeps the air fresh and clean.
"Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge is a dynamic landscape made up of forests, wetlands, tundra, lakes, mountains and glacial rivers bounded by the snowy peaks of the Alaska Range. This upper Tanana River valley has been called the "Tetlin Passage," because it serves as a major migratory route for birds. 116 species of birds breed on Tetlin during the short summer, when long days and warm temperatures accelerate the growth of plants, insects and other invertebrates, providing a ready source of rich foods for nesting birds." Wikipedia
Besides all the birds the refuge is home to all the wildlife one would expect to find in Alaska (except musk ox). On this day though the birds and critters were hunkered down to weather the storm.
Your visits, comments, faves and suggestions are always appreciated.

Giving THANKS today for all the blessings in my life. And you my dear flickr friends are one of my favorite and most valued blessings. I appreciate each and every one of you for your impressive talents, wonderful friendship and continued support.
This was a memorable dawn in Idaho's Sawtooths, with Mt. McGown catching the early glow nicely reflected in Stanley Lake. Can't wait to return. A few other shots from this trip in the comments.
I've been away from flickr for a bit. Spokane had the worst windstorm in our history. Many still don't have power. Still cleaning up from it. Sad to see so many trees down. We were fortunate, but so many weren't. We're remodeling our top floor, with new paint, flooring, fixtures and bathrooms. Busy times. Hope to return to my daily involvement early next week. I miss you. Remodeling is hard....
Enjoy a most wonderful Thanksgiving!

Continuing with the splendor that I experienced when I stepped away from the camper (shown in comments) on this glorious morning.
Conveniently another early riser quietly paddled slowly by in his red canoe in the rain as the loons, grebes and other songbirds serenaded us with their soothing morning song. It just doesn't get much better than this.
Thanks for taking the time to look, and for any comments and faves. Always appreciated!

One of my favorite Yellowstone vistas, with the curving Yellowstone River curling around Bumpus Butte and Calcite Springs.
Home from visiting family and friends in the Boise area. Was a grand time.
Hope your week is off to a great start.

The Grand Prismatic Spring is one of the most colorful and captivating sights I've seen.
A couple other shots of this amazing place in comments.
"The Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park is the largest hot spring in the United States, and the third largest in the world, after Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand and Boiling Lake in Dominica. It is located in the Midway Geyser Basin."
I'm going to be away for the next week or so. Lost my stepmother. Sad days ahead.
Have a great weekend!
