Looking down on a portion of one of my very favorite places to stay or visit.
Canmore is well-located between Kananaskis Country and Banff National Park. An ideal location for world class photography and stunning views in all directions.
The canal below provides the cities water. It is fed from a reservoir behind me.
Some peaks of the Fairholme Range across the valley.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

The name in the First Nation's Nakoda language for Banff's Lake Minnewanka. Sure seemed right when standing here experiencing and hearing the roiling water motion and waves with Mt. Inglismaldie rising majestically across the lake.
"Minnewanka Lake is a glacial lake located five kilometres (3.1 miles) northeast of the Banff townsite. The lake is 21 km (13 mi) long and 142 m (466 ft) deep, making it the 2nd longest lake in the mountain parks of the Canadian Rockies (Maligne Lake is the longest)." Wiki

A panoramic view of one of the highlights of driving Banff's amazing Icefields Parkway: Peyto Lake.
Rock flour creates this unique color. It is essentially bedrock that has been ground down into extremely fine grains by glacial erosion.
The lake is fed by Peyto Creek, which drains water from Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield).
During high volumes of rock flour—typically over the summer months—a distinctive grey hue can often be seen where the glacial melt enters the lake. The overall effect, however, is a turquoise hue throughout the lake itself.
