A sun dog captured from Anacortes Washington's Mt Erie at sunset. Looking NW towards the San Juan Islands. The sights from here are impressive.

"Sun dogs (or sundogs), mock suns or phantom suns, scientific name parhelia (singular parhelion), are an atmospheric phenomenon that consists of a pair of bright spots on either side on the sun.

Sun dogs are a member of a large family of halos, created by light interacting with ice crystals in the atmosphere. Sun dogs typically appear as two subtly-colored patches of light to the left and right of the sun, approximately 22° distant and at the same elevation above the horizon as the sun. They can be seen anywhere in the world during any season, but they are not always obvious or bright. Sun dogs are best seen and are most conspicuous when the sun is low." Wikipedia

Not sure if this wolf is fishing, or just narcissistic, liking his handsome reflection. Liked his pose though.

Thanks for taking a look of him taking a look.

Another Palouse view from Steptoe Butte.
The sun kept playing peek-a-boo with the heavy clouds, creating a moody mix of shadow and light. I liked the sentinel trees standing aloof and alone.

Enjoy a special Sunday!

One more autumn image while it's still fresh in our minds.

Nature puts on it's autumn finery around the oldest standing building in Idaho.
The Cataldo Mission was built between 1848 and 1853.
It is a popular tourist attraction, off I-90 in Idaho's Silver Valley.

I sincerely appreciate your views and comments.
Wishing you a fabulous Friday!

A marshy meadow seen along the Richardson Highway on the way to Fairbanks. Looked for moose. Not this day. Alaska is known for it's voracious and pesky mosquitoes. This looks like a good place for them. I didn't get one bite in the 3 weeks I was there. Didn't even use deet cologne. Was a nice surprise.

Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated!
