The St. Maries river, near town of same name, where I used to live. The pilings are remnants of when they used to run logs down this river to the mills in town.
Two rivers meet in St. Maries: the St. Joe and St. Maries. Water and wildlife abound. The St. Joe then travels on a few miles before flowing into southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene.

I had such a fun time yesterday hunting eagles with some great Flickr Friends on Lake Coeur d'Alene. I had been admiring their sharp and amazing shots for quite some time so I took my Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VRII lens with a 1.7 teleconverter over to try my luck. There were dozens of other hunters out there too, many with huge long lenses, some needing a caddy just to help carry them. The Eagles were being shy on this sunny day, but we did see a few. They were either white specs in the distance or flying by too fast for me to get a quality shot (gotta work on those skills some more). We watched this eagle for quite awhile, with cameras ready for any move. I snapped this shot just as he took off for another Kokanee snack (the fish, not the beer). Not as sharp as I wanted. Gonna have to get back out there soon and practice some more (and start saving pennies for that looooong lens).
Thanks for taking a look. Your comments, suggestions and support are always appreciated.
Enjoy a wonderful Sunday!

A follow up shot to the image below of this beautiful eagle bursting forth to go fishing on Lake Coeur d'Alene. It is such a thrill to see them, and watch them perform their impressive aerial maneuvers. He had a kokanee to dine on in less than a minute.
Thanks for taking a look!
