“Takakkaw” is derived from a Cree word meaning “it is wonderful” and/or “magnificent”. That it is. And rather loud.

The falls have a total height of 373 metres (1,224 ft), making it the 2nd tallest waterfall in Canada. The waterfall was formerly thought to be the tallest in Canada, but a new survey in 1985 found that it is actually shorter than Della Falls on Vancouver Island.

Enjoy a relaxing Sunday!

Another perspective on a favorite place to relax, dine or have a hot drink and watch the many tourists visiting BC's Emerald Lake is this well located restaurant near the lake's outlet. Cilantro is one of the several options to enjoy when staying at the Emerald Lake Lodge and Cabins.

Was raining this stormy day so was a good place to hang out, visit and wait for a break in the weather (which never came....).

A few more pics from here below.

Thanks for taking a look. Always appreciated!

I posted an image yesterday of that appealing pool of water nestled in this basalt and limestone natural bridge over the Kicking Horse river in BC's Yoho National Park. Here's a view providing a larger perspective on the forces of rushing water that formed this geological wonder.

Long ago the river flowed over this formation but later wore down the base and now flows under it.

This was taken in June, when the waters were full of dirt, silt and runoff, turning them brown. However later in the year the more pristine glacial runoff turns the waters a brilliant teal blue. An image from an autumn trip below shows the difference in colors.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
