The Bow River leads the eye to the Three Sisters (or at least two of them, the tallest sister is shrouded with clouds).

Shot taken within town. You don't have to go far to find great mountain beauty here.

"Canmore was officially named in 1884 after Malcolm III of Scotland who was also nicknamed Canmore.

Canmore's economic future seemed dismal until the announcement in the early 1980s that Calgary would be hosting the 1988 Winter Olympics, and that Canmore would play host to the Nordic events. This resulted in an increase in tourism, and Canmore began to develop into the recreational tourist destination it is today." Wiki

Enjoy a wonderful Sunday!

A view from the Over Look trail looking NE at the first primary higher view when one enters this amazing geological treasure.
Parking lot on the left.

"When you travel to the Painted Hills, you can see millions of years of history revealed in the layers of mountains of earth, one color at a time.

The Painted Hills are named for the delicate layers of reds, yellows, golds and blacks in its soil. The Painted Hills is one of the three units that make up the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Seeing the hills makes you feel a bit like you’ve stepped onto another planet, though you’re actually taking a peek into our own earth’s history. The sunset hues of the hills are ever-changing with moisture and light levels, making each visit to them different." traveloregon.com

I'd been here once before for a short stop on the way to Smith Rock. This time I took time to explore deeper into this amazing place. Stopping here is a must but there is much more to see down the road so please continue further into this 7th Wonder of Oregon.

Have a fabulous Friday and summer weekend!

America celebrates this day by giving Thanks for our many blessings and bounty. Wishing all my dear Family and Friends a most wonderful Thanksgiving Day! I give thanks everyday for your valued friendships and my many blessings.

This special gnarly Japanese Maple was found on the grounds of Hatley Castle, Victoria! Was a nice surprise.

Sunrise splendor at Idaho's Little Redfish Lake. Taken from my campsite. What a WoW this morning was.

Just returned from a nice 10 day trip to the Banff region. Didn't get as many good shots as I hoped, as I usually do in October. Only filled 3 memory cards, when generally I would fill 8-10. Conditions weren't beneficial (wildfire smoke, haze, unusual warmth, nothing but blues skies/few clouds, harsh light, no snow on peaks, wildlife brushed up hard to find, people everywhere due to the summer-like weather....not typical October weather in the Canadian Rockies). Perhaps I'm a bit slower now as well and also a bit more selective on picking my clicks. Frequent whining to the weather gods didn't help. Mother Nature rules. Fun regardless, such a spectacular area. Better luck next time.

Happy Friday!

Another view of Idaho's Mt. McGown rising prominently above Stanley Lake. One of the finest mornings I've experienced.

I posted this same scene in b/w earlier. See comments.
Can't decide which I like best.

I sincerely appreciate your views, faves, comments and support!

Have a wonderful summer weekend!
