My dear sister Monica succumbed yesterday after a valiant and inspirational 12 year battle with cancer. She was one of the happiest, bravest and sweetest persons I've known. She just turned 46. A truly bright light has gone out of our world. May she rest in peace, knowing she is much loved and missed.

I generally don't share much personal family information on flickr. But those of you seeing this are flickr family now so thought I'd explain my absence for the past week and for the immediate future.

Your friendship does comfort me thru this sad time.

My love for photography started early.
An old slide photo of my dad's taken during a trip in 1961 to Yellowstone. This is Mammoth Hot Springs. My brother Bret and I faced the sun so Dad could take this shot. I remember having fun with that camera, a Spartus Full View. I liked it because you looked down thru the top, like a modern point and shoot with a big viewer. Wish I still had it. Ahhh, great memories.
