Seen from Sunrise area of the Park at sunrise. Easy to see why this part of the park was named Sunrise, as first light on Rainier glows nicely at dawn.

"The broad top of Mount Rainier contains three named summits. The highest is called the Columbia Crest. The second highest summit is Point Success, 14,158 ft (4,315 m), at the southern edge of the summit plateau, atop the ridge known as Success Cleaver. It has a topographic prominence of about 138 ft (42 m), so it is not considered a separate peak. The lowest of the three summits is Liberty Cap, 14,112 ft (4,301 m), at the northwestern edge, which overlooks Liberty Ridge, the Sunset Amphitheater, and the dramatic Willis Wall. Liberty Cap has a prominence of 492 ft (150 m), and so would qualify as a separate peak under most strictly prominence-based rules. A prominence cutoff of 400 ft (122 m) is commonly used in Washington state.

High on the eastern flank of Mount Rainier is a peak known as Little Tahoma Peak, 11,138 ft (3,395 m), an eroded remnant of the earlier, much higher, Mount Rainier. It has a prominence of 858 ft (262 m), and it is almost never climbed in direct conjunction with Columbia Crest, so it is usually considered a separate peak. If considered separately from Mt. Rainier, Little Tahoma Peak would be the third highest mountain peak in Washington." Wiki

An amazing massif from any angle.

Enjoy a wonderful Sunday and week ahead!

One of our neighborhood hawks that likes to hang around our bird feeders. He kept trying to hide his eyes behind that small branch, perhaps thinking I then couldn't see him.

"This bird was named after the naturalist William Cooper, one of the founders of the New York Academy of Sciences. Other common names; big blue darter, chicken hawk, hen hawk, Mexican hawk, quail hawk, striker and swift hawk." Wiki

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Go Zags!

A moody, broody morning waiting for sunrise's bloom on this iconic peak. The sun was shrouded in thick clouds as well behind me but we were able to capture a nice reflection of it in Pyramid Lake.

Dear friend Carlos waiting as well on the point to the right. Was a wonderful start to a special day with Jocy, Panta and Carlos. Hope our paths cross again.

Enjoy a fabulous Friday and weekend!

While enjoying the beauty of Yukon's Kluane Lake this unique rig pulled in. What a special camper! I enjoyed visiting with Guillaume and Jenna about their home on the road. They were now living in this small home and experiencing the wide and wild world instead of the usual big home, mortgage and debts. They had built it from scratch themselves. It didn't seem that large on the outside but was quite homey, cozy and comfy on the inside. In many ways nicer and more comfy and complete than my modern truck camper. Impressive trailer and very impressive couple.

Further down the AlCan Highway thru the Donjek and White river sections were the worst roads I've ever experienced. A nightmare driving the dozens of miles of deep deep potholes that could not be avoided. 5-10 mph max without losing teeth. Was worried that their tiny home would shake apart, but was glad to see on line that they did indeed build it strong and sturdy and toured Alaska.

FYI, just google the title and you'll find much information about them and their journeys.

Wouldn't that be a tempting way to experience life?

A portal into the bright, vivid and vibrant hideaway of the Leprechauns.

"Happy St. Patrick's Day! A couple of favorite Irish quotes:

"St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time, a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summer's magic!" Adrienne Cook

"May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future!" Irish proverb

Cheers!
