I love trees. We live in a ponderosa pine forest. This bristlecone pine rooted in rock hangs precariously above the beginning of Banff's Bow Falls. I'm always impressed where and how they can survive in such harsh and rocky terrain.

"Bristlecone pines are known for attaining great ages. A specimen of Pinus longaeva located in the White Mountains of California is 5,068 years old—the oldest known individual tree in the world. Another well-known bristlecone pine in the White Mountains is Methuselah which is 4,850 years old."

Where they grow the scenery is generally magnificent. But windy.....
