After a busy year working on the new house - I can really enjoy spring in our garden for the first time. It's only now that I realise how much I missed it...

After one year of negotiations, three months ago we finally became the happy new owners of a most beautiful place in a forest that borders a lake.
Till now we've been working hard to clear up the mess, trying to control/destroy the weed that took over the place for over the last two years, cutting down trees, fencing the place and so on.
At this moment we are in the process to build it up again and we are going to renovate the house. So there's still a lot of work to do in the near future, but it's all worth it.
Last week I created a nice small terrace in our garden which has a great view over the lake and it's a wonderful spot to have a drink in the evening while enjoying the sunset… Polle also agrees ;-)

Finally, after 3 weeks travelling through North India - when we almost gave up to get a clear sighting of the tiger - we stumbled on this majestic tigress. Driving in a Jeep, we took a turn in the mountains of Bandhavgarh and suddenly we spotted her along the road, just a few meters in front of us! She was taking a nap in the afternoon and was in no hurry to hit the road. So we could watch her for about 15 minutes before she took off and disappeared into the bushes.
It was one of the most thrilling encounter I have ever experienced. What a gorgeous animal she is...

The last thing you would expect in a large town like Rotterdam is having an owl in your garden... but it happened to me! Somehow he seems to like my backyard because he's there for over three weeks now. The first time when I saw him I couldn't believe my eyes and thought he was just an occasional guest. But now I'm sure he has settled here and it's such a gift! Nevertheless, not everybody likes him... ever since, the black birds are driving me crazy with their continuous alarm calls ;-)
