Street girls (and assorted men, including at least one TJ cop [see note]...) outside the Miami Bar in Tijuana, BCN, Mexico on September 10, 2001. Taken by an Olympus OM-1MD with the Zuiko 50mm F/1.8 lens. Exposure and film type long forgotten! Scanned from a print...

The area extreme left is where the Hong Kong Club Callejon Coahuilla entrance is: just beyond the group of guys talking to the cop.

Note that his picture was taken in 2001 - both the entrance to the Miami bar and the entrance to the Hong Kong Club have been re-modeled since then, and the sidewalk has been re-laid and widened in the decade since then... ¡the only constant is the presence of the paraditas! (I'm pretty sure that the car isn't on the road any longer, either...)

These girls are definitely hookers... (known in Mexican Spanish as una Paradita "a standing girl") I was propositioned by most of them after this shot was taken! (as I recall)

Useful hint: (see my first comment below for reason) when taking pictures of TJ hookers on the street with an SLR, DO NOT raise the camera to your eye: scale focus, (with a small [larger number] ƒ stop, or use the hyperfocal distance, if you know what that is for your lens and ƒ stop...) and take the shot from the waist (this shot was...) or from the hip. A TLR (if you have one...) (or other camera with a waist-level finder...) will let you shoot much more discreetly, but you can't take forever focusing... and the girls will eventually catch on to what you're doing. A wide-angle lens will get more girls in one shot... (of course, this whole paragraph is irrelevant if you have an auto-focus camera [except the comment about the wide-angle lens])
