We stopped at a scenic bridge crossing a big canal in Ogata, Akita Prefecture of Japan. We found an abandoned boat was entrapped in ice.

We had some nice clouds overhead, so I headed up on Mt. Hamilton to take sunset photos from a higher vantage point over the Silicon Valley. The sunset di not pan out, but as many times if you stick around, the blue hour offers some gems. This is the view of the Dumbarton Bridge crossing the San Francisco Bay.

We went to see Hanami, the cherry blossoms at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. It was an enchanting experience to walk at night below cherry trees in full blossom, and along bamboo trees.

We went to the Namahage Sedo Festival in Oga, Akita Prefecture of Japan. Namahage are deities who visit at the end of the year to admonish laziness, and bring good health, good harvests, and products from the mountains and oceans. They visit homes, where they are received courteously and served food and sake. Here a Namahage performs on a taiko drum.
