When I first photographed the woodpecker I thought it was the female. On closer inspection when I got home and put the images on the computer you can see a small amount of the yellow crown. See next image. St.Albert, Alberta .Used flash for the exposure.

When I first photographed the woodpecker I thought it was the female. On closer inspection when I got home I seen the yellow crown. See previous image. St.Albert, Alberta. It was tough getting any decent shots with all the branches and dark lighting and on top of the spruce tree. Without flash.
