A lukewarm sun was hitting the mighty walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint Petersburg Russia, which was a good enough reason to lure some members of ‘The Walruses’ swimming club into a little socialising by the river. Don’t be mistaken by the light, it’s bitterly cold out there.

It’s not uncommon to see them break through the ice and dip into the dark waters of a freezing Neva River passing under the Troitskiy Bridge on its way towards the Baltic Sea. By their standards, this is a ‘tropical’ occasion.

It makes no sense to me, but again, Russians are tough folk.
