La désorientation spatiale est le phénomène le plus dangereux pour un pilote. Sans repère visuel, un pilote ne peut plus connaître sa position dans l'espace et ses sensations sont totalement erronnées. Seul l'horizon artificiel à bord des avions compte dans ce genre de situation. Sur cette photo, la PAF n'est pas désorientée, bien sûr, mais démontre les qualités de vol exceptionnelles de l'Alpha Jet capable de maintenir un vol stabilisé sur la tranche.
