Here's another strong contender for the title of "Weirdest Tree in the Knysna Forest". :)

I found this one while walking along the Kom-Se-Pad forest road yesterday morning. It appears that a Cape Holly tree (Ilex mitis) germinated inside the root system of what appears to be a Witels (or a White Pear)... which was growing on the decomposing stump of some other tree. As the original host tree stump decomposed completely... the roots became exposed... and this is what you end up with.

At least that's my theory! ;)
