You're not paranoid if you really are being followed... I think there's a nice photo hinted at with this picture, but this likely isn't it. There were small groups of armed guards patrolling the Notre Dame area (though I can't actually recall their presence at all the major Parisisian tourist spots) and I thought a shot of them strutting past Notre Dame might be cool. Thing is, there are rather a lot of other people in that area too, and trying to fit in the door and the guards whilst keeping pedestrians out of frame meant I only had the one chance to get it right, unless I was willing to wait for them to do another pass at some unknown time (which I wasn't...). I wish there was more breathing room between the left edge of the frame and the woman too, but there's a lamp post just out of view and it looked naff if included. I had to do some serious distortion correction to get a predominance of straight lines here too, which meant more cropping... Anyway, I'll stop tearing down my own shot, eh? :P |
