Barongsai (English : Chinese Lion Dance) is a traditional dance using the glove that resembles a lion. Lion Dance has a history thousands of years. This Lion Dance became popular in the North-South dynasty (Nan Bei) years 420-589 AD. At that time the troops of king Wen Song overwhelmed by the assault troops on the elephant king from the land of Fan Yang Lin Yi. A warlord named Zhong Que create artificial stuffed lion king Fan troops to repel it. Apparently the effort was successful until eventually dance lion dance legend.
Chinese people believe the lion is the symbol of happiness and pleasure. The lion dance is believed to show that can bring good luck so generally held on a variety of important events such as opening a restaurant, the establishment pagoda, and of course the new year celebration.

2011 Lunar New Year Fair (Imlek Fair) which opened on January 15, 2011 by Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia, DR Syarief Hasan, finally on the night of January 23, 2011 was officially closed by the Vice Mayor of Medan, Dzulmi Eldin.
2011 Lunar New Year Fair which held at the Central Bussiness District (CBD) Polonia with the vision brings new hope to increase trading activity and climate in North Sumatra, especially the city of Medan to be better than the previous year, is an event that showcased spectacular promotion multiusaha products, arts and culture, various food, and multiethnic cultural performances in Indonesia, particularly the Chinese culture - a cultural show and a procession of religious rituals interpret the coming new year with the hope and new spirit in order to attain the life even better.
Beside being a society entertainment media, this activity is also expected to promote the love of the plurality of art and culture treasure in society more further. In addition, the uniqueness of 2011 Lunar New Year Fair event is that various ethnic groups and religions can mingle, so the religious harmony in North Sumatra, especially in Medan city, always well maintained.
