Some elements of the community leaders, namely Effendi Ghazali and Sandrina Malakiano read The Charter of Clean Indonesia (Piagam Indonesia Bersih) 2009.
The contents of the charter, mentioning that Indonesia should be clean from corruption and not enough to address anti-corruption course, state institutions must be clean of corruption which is a betrayal of the people.
Indonesia must be clean of the corruption of Century Bank, Indonesia should be clean of destabilizing efforts Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the eradication of corruption should start from the Presidential Palace for the President and officials must clarify their wealth in a transparent manner.

By resolution 58/4 of October 31st, 2003, the United Nation's General Assembly designated 9 December as International Anti-Corruption Day. This decision was taken in order to raise awareness of corruption and of the role of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in combating and preventing it.
On December 9th, 2009, Indonesia also took the participation for celebrating this Anti-Corruption Day in several big cities. Thousands of people went down to the main streets of Jakarta in a peaceful rally commemorating the World Anti-Corruption Day.
Despite security concerns expressed by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono several days earlier, the rally marking International Anti-Corruption Day 2009 in Jakarta went on safely. Thousands of people went down to the streets showing spirit to fight corruption through rally speeches, posters, and theatrical acts. Students and the urban poor are among the participants of the rally, which was centered along the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, National Monument (Monas), and The Presidential Palace. The case of questionable bail out of Bank Century by the central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) involving 6,7 trillion rupiahs (around 700 million US dollars) last year and the alleged weakening of anti-graft commission sparked people's distrust in the government's commitment to fight corruption.
