The origin of the term is ambiguous, but one holding is that it came from the "beaten path" of a foot patrolman's route around his assigned area. Constables were sometimes required to stick to a particular never-ending route to ensure all of their areas were adequately patrolled.

What does a PCSO do? PCSOs are highly visible and act as a vital link between the public, police, and partners. They carry out patrols, deal with anti-social behaviour, gather intelligence, and resolve community issues. They work closely with local authorities, businesses, and Neighbourhood Watch.

Their purpose is not to replace police officers, but to support them in addressing quality of life issues and community needs. They are a vital addition to the policing family, and will address tasks that don't require the powers of arrest a police officer has.

Tiverton, Devon, UK.

Wonky bridges, slanty streets and a warning sign for ducks!
Tiverton, Devon, UK.

Tiverton was founded around the year 650 AD as a royal estate. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the town grew to become a centre for the woollen industry; later becoming famous for lace making.

The Heathcoat Lace Factory was established in 1816 when John Heathcoat took over a factory on the site and moved his lace working business from Loughborough.

The Luddites invaded the Loughborough mill in 1816 and destroyed 55 lace frames. Heathcoat afterward installed new and greatly improved machines at a mill in Tiverton.

Nowadays its just a gentle sleepy Devon town.

Its been a difficult week.

An elderly relative with some dementia has resulted in a general lack of sleep - - - -

Why are you using the vacuum cleaner at 3 O'clock in the morning?

Why are you in the street in your nightie ?

Where have you put the door keys?

No there is nobody hiding in the cooker.

Sleep depravation is not to be recommended.

All is not as it seems!

Madrí Excepcional is a beer produced in the United Kingdom by Coors in conjunction with Spanish brewery La Sagra.

The packaging uses a red design featuring a chulapo man in a cap and houndstooth waistcoat, echoing the Moretti branding. It trades heavily on its Spanish associations, using the slogan "El Alma de Madrid" ("the soul of Madrid"), although it is brewed in Tadcaster, UK.

Consumed in this case in Tiverton, Devon, England.

The late shift - cleaning, repairs and restocking.

York, England.

According to the UK Government:

Staff who regularly work at least 3 hours during the ‘night period’ are night workers.

The night period is 11pm to 6am, unless the worker and employer agree a different night period.

If they do, it must be 7 hours long and include midnight to 5am. It must be agreed in writing.

Staff may also be night workers if there’s a collective agreement (for example, trade union agreement) that states their work is night work.

The National Minimum Wage applies to night workers but there is not a higher night working rate.

Sleep-in shifts:

The number of hours that workers get paid the National Minimum Wage depends on whether they’re expected to sleep or work for most of their shift.

Workers who are expected to sleep for most of a sleep-in shift (for example, a care worker), and are provided with suitable sleeping facilities, will only get the National Minimum Wage for the periods when they’re awake to perform tasks.

Workers who are expected to work for most of a shift will get the National Minimum Wage for their whole shift, even if they’re allowed to sleep between tasks.
