The roommates in my house keep on changing, and one of them decided to leave the 3 foot tall Barbie doll in this position one day. Harmon? Oh, Harmon doesn't care, he's just a cat who's afraid of the outdoors.

This photo is going to have a long story.
I am grateful for all of the support and love that went into this show. There are some truly great friends that I am lucky enough to have in my life...
That being said, it was really disheartening when strangers rolled in and decided to tear down my sign. From what I could deduce - because this happened later in the evening behind my back - it was their reaction to my view of the Excelsior not being THEIR view of the Excelsior, especially as someone who's not born and raised in that neighborhood.
Does it matter that I'm not from San Francisco? Especially when I clearly have pride in where I am now, as opposed to dwelling on bashing my roots? I moved here because I want to better myself and the lives of those around me. And what about the ancestors of those who are "born and raised" in the Bay Area? Were those ancestors immigrants at some point in their lives? Absolutely.
The point is: every life is fleeting and every life is unique. My life is not intrinsically better than anyone else's just because I happen to have a medium format camera. Rather, I photograph what goes on around me because pressing the button is the best expression of my reality that I have found in all of my endeavors to be creative. I've invested a lot of time and love into what I do, and I hope that that comes through in my work, but not everyone has to like it. I just hope that any dissenters choose to be more constructive with their criticism instead of resorting to acts of pointless vandalism.
