Smile on Saturday - Made of Glass
I have been waiting for the right opportunity to photograph my wife's glass unicorn figurine, and this seemed like the perfect theme. I decided to pose the unicorn in front of a mirror to add some additional glass to the shot. The mirror I used is on the back of our bedroom door, so I stacked a couple of boxes in front of the door and put a black T-shirt on top of the boxes, and then the unicorn on top of that. I used a drying rack to hang a red T-shirt in front of the boxes, to block out the rest of the bedroom reflections. I then scrunched down on the floor and shot between the wooden rods of the drying rack to the left of the hanging shirt. I tried using the natural light coming in through the glass window, but was not completely satisfied with the results. I decided to try the flash and really liked the bokeh that was added to the reflected unicorn. If you look closely, you can see my fingerprints on the unicorn's neck.
