Sony DSC-WX220 bought for the sum of thirty quid. This little camera will live in my pocket. I bought it to be a crossover between my iPhone and my Olympus Pen. The Olympus is an amazing piece of kit, with incredible imaging, but far too big for daily use. The iPhone has been frustrating me for a while. Although the image quality on the iPhone 6s is decent, the lack of zoom, tiny storage and woeful battery life have just got too painful for me. Too many times I've seen a cool shot that's just been out of reach of the tiny sensor and poor zoom. So many occasions I've not had my DSLR but needed more than the iPhone. I now have a solution and I'm pretty chuffed. .
So far this little Sony is awesome. It's tiny. Bloody tiny. It fits easily in a pocket no problem. The main reason it's great is that it packs a 10x optical zoom. I'll be using this all the time while on the move. The flash is decent, auto focus is fast, 1080 video is smooth and the built in WiFi makes sharing easy. I know compact cameras are dying off thanks to the smartphone, but I'm bucking the trend. I'll continue to use my iPhone for snaps for sure, but I'll be using this camera a hell of a lot too. For £30 I'm proper amazed at this tiny camera - all good. .
Blimey this has turned into a bit of a blog post, besides photography really isn't about the kit. It's the least important aspect. The best camera is one you have with you. . .
