Someone told me about this cool sign almost three years ago, and I just stopped by here today for the first time (mainly because I'd forgotten the name of the company and didn't know exactly where this was located!).

The William A. Smith Construction Co., established in Houston in 1924, is now a part of the RailWorks corporation. The buildings here -- facing railroad tracks (which you can see in the background) and on a dead-end street not far from the Houston Ship Channel -- appear to be vacant. I wonder what will become of this sign??

Abandoned furniture -- street couch -- sitting outside 1960s apartment complex at 1920 W. Alabama Street in Houston's Montrose neighborhood. (Cool railing can be seen in upper right part of photo.)

Apartment residents were asked to move out by the end of August; the complex is slated to be demolished in September to make way for the building of . . . . a larger, new apartment complex. (Per this Swamplot post: swamplot.com/new-owners-to-montrose-apartment-dwellers-ev...)
