It was my first season of "boat-nerding" having been indoctrinated by a chance encounter with MISSISSAGI near this same location a couple of months previous. This day I was meeting up with a couple of friends and had a 3-4 hour jump on them so scouted out nearby ships and sure enough the SAGINAW was coming across Lake Ontario aimed right at me. Here it catches some fall colour in the Welland Canal upbound between locks 1 & 2.
We seem to have an overabundance of power here with 7 locomotives leading CN 394 through Bayview as they head in to Burlington/Aldershot.. CN 2266, CN 2156, NS 9962, NS 9485, UP 5366, CSXT 4013 and CSXT 76 provide the power.
It had been 22 years since I last visited Minnesota's Iron Range when I again had the opportunity in October. Far too long. Here, a Canadian National empty taconite train from Two Harbors heads north at Wolf, MN on Oct. 9, 2019 with three C40-8's. Thankfully, I have realized the error of my ways. Hopefully, my next visit will be measured in months, not years.
