Milan Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Milano; Lombard: Domm de Milan) is the cathedral church of Milan, Italy. Dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente (Saint Mary Nascent), it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Cardinal Angelo Scola.

The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fifth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in the Italian state territory.


Der Mailänder Dom, Duomo di Santa Maria Nascente (im lombardischen Dialekt Dom de Milan), ist eines der berühmtesten Bauwerke Italiens und Europas und die Kathedrale des Erzbistums Mailand. Er ist nach dem Petersdom im Vatikan und der Kathedrale von Sevilla flächenmäßig die drittgrößte Kirche der Welt. Der fünfschiffige Dom ist 157 Meter lang und 109 Meter breit. Die hohen, farbenprächtigen Glasfenster des Chors gehören zu den größten der Welt und stellen eine Sehenswürdigkeit für sich dar. Das durch den hellen Marmor und die knapp 4000 Statuen einmalige Bauwerk wurde 1572 durch Karl Borromäus auf den Namen Santa Maria Nascente geweiht und trägt somit das Patrozinium Mariä Geburt.

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the oldest shopping mall in Italy, housed within a four-storey double arcade in central Milan. The Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It was originally designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877.


Die Viktor-Emanuel-Galerie (italienisch Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II) in Mailand ist eine nach dem Einiger Italiens, König Viktor Emanuel II., benannte überdachte Einkaufsgalerie aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Die Eröffnung durch den König fand am 15. September 1867 statt.
