I have been evolving subtly over the past half a year and the one simple element that I have embraced is adding "calm" to my daily. In the forest, I get this way more often than in the city that I dwell in on most days.

Being in nature has become my teacher on living life with goals, and purpose. I suppose each of us in the journey of life go through these mini revelations at some point in our life. For me, I am trying to keep a positive attitude in all situations that come my way. This is not always easy.

I do try.

Yesterday afternoon, I sat in a Kia dealership for an hour and ten minutes patiently waiting for my cars simple oil change. While in the lobby, chaos ruled this space. A total mess of too much noise. There was a vending machine making a loud humming noise, four service men each with loud voices trying to get their customers to spend more money on frivolous "things they found in their car inspections". Three televisions turned on in three sections of the waiting room, all loud and all on different channels. To top it off, there was overhead music being played.

Ironically, through this entire time, I settled down into my book of choice aptly called; One Square Inch of Silence, by Gordon Hempton. Here is a link to his website with the same name; onesquareinch.org/

I realized while sitting in this manmade jungle, that I am indeed, most happy in this life---while in a forest.
