Noordpolderzijl is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Eemsmond, about 4 km northwest of Usquert.

Noordpolderzijl is named after the zijl (sluice) in the dyke of the Noordpolder. The original sluice was built in 1811, when the Noordpolder was made dry. The hamlet is located on the land side of the sluice. At the other side of the dyke is the harbour of Noordpolderzijl, which is the smallest seaport in the Netherlands. It usually houses two fishing boats.

This was supposed to be a follow up on one of my older series but the wind was giving me a hard time.

The older series:

Still some nice frames. :)

'Daniel Libeskind`s plan for the city markings of Groningen is an adventurous approach to the theme of non-existent reality. In it he subsumes the past, the present and the future of the city of Groningen. «The Books of Groningen» refer to the cultural, social, political and economic process that the city has undergone since its origins and which is continued in the lives of the inhabitants. «The Books» comprise a text, according to Libeskind "the historical text, read and written by the citizens of the once and yet-to-be City, permanently remarking the boundaries of Groningen in time and space.'

'After experimenting with several abstract studies, William Forsythe had the idea of a canal which is more then 400 metres long and contains 27 pillars.
A metal arm connected to the pillars pulls a row of trees on the bank and bends them out of shape as they grow.
Shipbuilders in Groningen used similar techniques to bend planks of wood to the right shape.
The sides of the canal are lined with an undulating wall at various heights wich is covered with vegetation.
It represents the way in wich mankind has made changes to the natural world for centuries in order to survive.'

Just testing the tweaked autoKAPduino rig with the fresh S95 running CHDK and 56" samurai rokkaku.

The good news: it worked like a gem.
The bad news: it was too cold for ice-cream. :)

A friend of mine got interested in KAP by my pictures and wanted to come along.
The idea was to make pictures of the raatakkers/Celtic Fields on the Noordse Veld.

Coming along is one thing but to KAP as well is better.
So he borrowed a small 47" rokkaku with a GoPro and we got started in a very windy and cold field.
Horrible conditions.

But ... after 25 minutes the ranger came along.
We were not allowed to have kites in the air in that area.
After a really short session we went home and I think my friend is getting some gear together. :)
