To survive in this physical world a child needs the adults around them to be "present" for them far far more than any object given as a present.

I find it a tragic irony that being "present" for another human soul is spelt exactly the same as the object gift; "present".

In today's modern western world far too many children have lost both parents "presence" but are lavishly bestowed object presence.

During the months leading up to Christmas so many families have both parents drawn out of the home over working and rushing from one event to the next to make sure everything is in place and ready for the Christmas break festivities. Their children will be over indulged with material object presents but will be emotionally impoverished and starving for adult emotional or social "presence".

This is a very large reason why so many of these children have already become highly addicted to cyber space as it helps them numb or sedate their inner pain from being totally unbearable.
