The majestically positioned church of the southermost settlement in Iceland, Vík í Mýrdal. The church itself sits above the village, though also below a fine mountain range which provides an epic backdrop. The swirling mists here helped to create a dramatic yet dreamy scene.

.....a seat with a view!!!

A fabulous atmospheric sunset panorama captured on the summit of High Pike in the northern Lake District. This summit is probably the one that I've climbed the most over the years (probably 20 times or more). It is one of those hills that feels like home as it is one of the first summits I climbed as a young lad, plus I can see home from the summit too. The view from the top is amazing is all seasons and weathers. This is the view looking towards Blencathra (centre) and Skiddaw (right) on a fine atmospheric October evening.

Captured during a sensational sunset from the top of Ullock Pike, this is the view across Bassenthwaite Lake to the distant Solway Firth where the sun can be seen on the horizon. Having ascended in thick hill fog, I was pleasantly surprised when it cleared towards the end of the evening to reveal this smashing vista. I stitched together a few landscape images to form this panoramic view in order to include the whole lake in a single frame.

____________________________________

A gem of a waterfall hidden on the fellside above Askrigg. I've visited this place a few times before and have never succeeded in doing the place justice. This was a very awkward shoot due to the volume of water and the amount of spray; I intended to set up my equipment closer to the plunge pool but had to shoot from a distance to avoid getting mist on the lens. The only problem was the overhang of trees in front of the waterfall on the other side of the beck, so being the dedicated photographer I am (wink wink) I rolled up my trouser legs, took off my boots & socks, and waded across the river to do a bit of pruning. In hindsight I think this viewpoint works better in showcasing the waterfall in its surroundings.
