It's that time of year where the evenings are getting longer and I can start venturing out after work. At the minute, I have just enough time to get to the city centre, so the other night I opted for the Castle as it looked as though it was going to be a decent sunset.

This is a shot I've planned for years, but never had the right conditions to pull it off. That was until this particular evening, where the conditions were literally PERFECT!

It's not often a shot comes to fruition exactly as you picture it in your mind beforehand, but that definitely happened here. I wanted to include the Castle and foreground tree silhouetted against the setting sun, with enough cloud to create some atmosphere, which as you can see I managed to pull off.

I even managed to capture the Irish Gate Bridge to the left of the image which spans Castle Way. The bridge stands on the site of the original Irish Gate, which was the western entrance through the city walls.
