EXPLORED!!! Highest position: 157 on Sunday, October 4, 2009

It's great!!! Weekend is starting and yesterday my Hoya R72 has been shipped!!! It was a really fast delivery, it took only 4 days from UK using standard postal service.

I'm amazed by the result, I will for sure start experiment a lot with Infrared.
Hope you're not gonna get tired of my future IR shots!

Using ISO 200 and f/8-f/9 I have decent shutter speeds, about 20 secs in full day light.
I really like the motion effect the long shutter speed provides on trees and other moving objects, it adds even more surreal effect.

Since colors (like the one perceived by our eyes) don't exist in IR photography, I think total freedom should be applied in post processing. I will try different approaches: I will take into the highest consideration your feedback, critiques and comments!

The shot
Shot not far from Alice's... I think it's a very good location. I could only get a few shots today, since the sky here it's really not helping that much: those are the only clouds I've seen in two weeks!

The Processing

Camera Raw

- Use the white balance tool to get a basic white balance

Photoshop

- Used the channel mixer to adjust tones
- Created a Level layer to improve contrast
- Changed hues with a Curve layer
- Applied a Color Balance tool to cool the sky down
- Applied another Color Balance layer to tweak colors even more
- Noise reduction (sky only) with Neat Image
- Resized
- Sharpening (Smart Sharpen + more accurate)
- Framing and signature.

Take a look at it, LARGE on Black :

@ You all
Comments, faves and critiques are always welcomed!

I'm really glad I decided to try IR photography out. I think it really suits my style and I can't wait to get some practice and start taking great shots!!!
Have the best weekend ever, my dear friends!!!
