User / lrargerich / Andromeda from far South

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is mostly a North Hemisphere object so I was happy to be able to take this photo from my location at 35 degrees south latitude. From here Andromeda never rises higher than this tree and it can only be photographed at the end of November or early December. The light pollution is also a problem.

I was surprised a short exposure could capture both Andromeda and its satellite galaxies M110 and M32.

Taken at the Mercedes County Observatory with a Canon 5DII, tripod and Astrotrac mount.
