SOME FACTS
Rüppell's Vulture (Gyps rueppellii) is a large vulture that occurs throughout the Sahel region of central Africa. The current population of 30,000 is in decline due to loss of habitat and other pressures.
The World's Highest Flyer: The Ruppell's vulture is the world's highest flying bird. In 1973, one collided with an aircraft off the Ivory Coast; at the time, the plane was flying at 37,000 feet.
Amazing Eyesight: Vultures have developed incredible eyesight in order to spot their food. A soaring vulture can spot a 3-foot animal carcass from up to 4 miles away.

The Eurasian Nuthatch (Sitta europaea), Taken on 20 January 2012, AT 10:51:01 AM, just 1 second after the image DSC_2354 posted earlier.
This particular broken stem of the giant grass Arundo donax provides a convenient lookout perch for any birds tempted by the bird feeder hanging very near, so I focus on it and wait! This time I was rewarded by this beautiful and agile bird. Jerky, abrupt movements - very alert and wary, frequently twisting its head and body around, checking for any signs of danger. This image and the one at www.flickr.com/photos/lorre_01/6729617797/in/photostream/ were taken just one second apart and the change in position indicates the speed of the bird's movements.
Camera: Nikon D300. Photo taken 20 January 2012, 10:51 am, in Oradour Fanais, in the Charente, Poitou-Charentes, France.
INFORMATION (found on internet): Nuthatches are omnivorous, eating mostly insects, nuts and seeds. They forage for insects hidden in or under bark by climbing along tree trunks and branches, sometimes upside-down. Their habit of wedging a large food item in a crevice and then hacking at it with their strong bills gives this group its English name. (More information at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuthatch)
