A self- portrait done for fun, using the computer cam (so not high resolution, but useful as a thumbnail for my Flickr icon) - Done whilst studying the Nikon manual. The idea was to try to catch that quizzical, enigmatic expression we all seem to wear when studying a manual.

11 June 2009 - What happened!!? - The camera can be candidly, uncompromisingly revealing and life's trials leave their tell-tale marks so visibly on the face don't they - but why do they seem to multiply exponentially from your late sixties onwards??? Can someone explain please? Being male means you don't slap on the smoothing cream (and being a Christian means you can't tell yourself "You're worth it!" as that TV advert tells women to encourage them to use the anti-wrinkle lotions) - So I remain creased and crinkled, lined and lacerated, weathered, warty and worn; grey and almost bald. And no - I'm not in pain - it's just that there are two teeth missing from the denture till I get them fixed, so I daren't laugh, and even smiling is risky ! - The only redeeming feature is the tan! - thank God for the Charentaise sunshine! (Run your cursor over the picture for further commentary)
(Uploaded initially for my "Family Stuff " set and to update Flickr Icon but decided to dedicate this picture to my lovely daughter Emma (in the States) and to my lovely granddaughter (by second marriage) Ruby, in Leeds, UK, neither of whom have a recent picture of 'Dad' /'Granddad')

Scanned photo of the family in India/Pakistan, probably early 1950,
three years after the end of British rule and the partition of the former India, into India and East and West Pakistan. [Errol (Tripod 01) aged 9 years, on left]
I love those old B/W posed studio family shots. Looking serious seemed
to be a requirement of the studio photographer in such times and so
I clearly broke the rule. For me of course this is a nostalgic memento of
my earlier childhood years in India. (For inclusion in the "Non-serious Family Stuff" set)
