With poppies blooming all around me I had a number of great views to choose from. I selected this one tree across the hillside which was surrounded by poppies and these beautiful white flowers with some mustard flowers mixed in. Then something caught my eye. Just out of frame was this beautiful bird of prey. I held my breath, would he make it into frame? Seems it was my day. He circled a number of times. Above the tree, below the tree then straight up and overhead. When something like this happens you just can’t help but get a bit giddy.

As we rounded each new bend in the road we were astonished by the incredible colors nature has in her arsenal and the intensity with which she is willing to use them. The natural arrangements of this wildflower bouquet beyond anything you can imagine. The major attraction was obviously the intense yellow orange of the California Poppies but the smaller flowers were not deterred. Sitting in a field of California Poppies is watching the clouds blow in streaks across the deep blue sky and the meadows compliment the entire scene with a beautiful intense green.

This year I stayed late to try and catch the famous moonbow over Yosemite Falls and ended up catching the Dogwoods in the Moonlight instead. The trick is getting them to hold still long enough to shoot.
