BEST WHEN VIEWED AT LARGER SIZES.

Another panorama where I took about 8 images and stitched them together in
Photoshop.

This is a shot of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. The sun
would dance in and out of the fog where next to Fort Point but never really
showed itself the way we had hoped. Still when I stitched the shots
together I really liked the results. If you check it out in large format,
you can clearly see the Lighthouse on top of Fort Point. I do with they'd
light this back up. It would make for a really nice addition to the shot.
You can make out a few cars tail light headed though the tunnel on the far
end of the bridge. The fog rolls over the hills of the Marin Headlands as
the summer sun dips in to the Pacific. Never can see to get enough shots
of the Golden Gate Bridge and will keep going back for more. I think it's
probably the most photographed bridge anywhere. Hope you enjoyed my
version. If so, take a moment and jot me a quick note.

Standing there in the snow, alone, the silence that comes with the snow seems almost deafening because the lack of any sound is so apparent. It’s not hard to imagine how it was for the Ahwahnee people just barely over just a 150 years ago who inhabited Yosemite Valley. No roads, no tourist, no dust, no pollution. That was how it seemed this day. They had closed the road for repairs so the only access to this spot was to walk in. When we arrived it was dark and gray and the snow was still falling and other than occasional plops of snow falling from the trees, there was no sound. I have been in Yosemite many times and can never remember it being this quiet. Another couple had followed us in but had given up on hoping for the clouds to clear the high country. I hung with it knowing that things change here fast. After a few minutes the clouds parted and the sun lit up El Capitan. The clouds on the peaks changed so quickly they seemed almost alive. I clicked off shots as quickly as I could as every moment seemed perfect. On any other day, even in the winter, this spot would have been fairly crowded. I have a lot of images I like but none make me feel the way this one does.

BEST VIEWING I just added this new viewing method so any feedback is welcome. Thanks.

This was my first visit to Sequoia National Park. It was pouring rain in
the valley and we thought the day would be a bust but it was anything but.
The fog in the redwoods only added a mysterious effect to the forest. It
kept everything damp and thus color saturated. This is a stitching of 8
images in to one panorama. I have found it best to take multiple
overlapping shots with very little change between pans. This technique
seems to give Photoshop exactly what it needs to do a good panorama without
much effort. Some after editing was done but it was minor. The
resulting full size image 10524 pixels by 2049 pixels. I have shrunk it
down slightly to a maximum of 1200 pixels tall.

I ask that if you wish to use the image for anything other than personal use
as desktop wallpaper you first contact me. I am happy to provide prints of
the full size image for optimal clarity without the LiquidMoonlight.com
watermark. Please respect my copyright so that I might continue to upload
images of this size and quality.

Thank you,

Recommend Viewing On Black

This is a massive panorama of Yosemite's high country as shot from Glacier Point.
This image is over 6000 pixels wide in its original format. I have reduced it here so that it would fit on a screen that supported 1200 pixels in height. So if your monitor will go high enough you REALLY need to look at this one at full size to see all the detail. I lucked out and the clouds on this day really cooperated and made for a nice sky that still allowed you to see to the very far edge of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Range. Often
cloudy days don't let you see all the way to the horizon. A clear day would not have made for as nice an image.

Half Dome dominates the image but you will also see Liberty Cap (lower right of Half Dome), Cathedral Peak to the distant left and you can just make out Clouds Rest behind Half Dome. This is not the typical viewing points that you would stop to see. Along the road to Glacier Point you take one sharp turn where there is not a lot of space to pull over. If you do, you are greeted by this impressive vista. Personally I like it better than the other two points where most pictures are taken.

From here, the path of the glacier that carved the rock is clear. Actually it you look carefully you can see that two glaciers joined just below this point. One coming from the right and the other clearly visible from the left of Half Dome. This was taken with my Nikon D200 mounted on an inexpensive tripod. No panorama head was used. Stitching the images together was tricky and it took quite some time before I was able to present this image. This is the largest image I have ever uploaded to this point but I felt it was necessary for you to get the full feel of the detail in the image.

Jot me a note if you like this one. Your comments are appreciated.

While driving south on highway one in Oregon we saw a sign on the road
indicating there was a lighthouse and of course we had to stop. It wasn't
a tall lighthouse. It wasn't even maintained at the time though have since
read they are fixing her back up. Since this shot they have painted the
lower part of the base of the Coquille lighthouse a dark red and added a
false chimney. I am not sure I like the idea of changing original look of
the lighthouse but I am glad they are at least restoring the historic
lighthouse.

This shot of Coquille is a stitching of several images taken as sunset. To
the left, tall grass and a near full moon. In the foreground, a massive
piece of drift wood that was tossed upon the rocks by a storm. And of
course the lighthouse and Coquille River in the background. I have left
this image at full size which is pretty massive and over 6000 pixels wide.
So you can really zoom in on this one if you like.

I didn't realize it at the time but I had seen this lighthouse as a child
when camping on the coast while my father fished for perch on the jetty.

Enjoy
