The late rains have created a number of ponds in the meadows in and around
Yosemite National Park and they make for unique shots of many of Yosemite's
famous icons. This is a good opportunity for us photographers as most of
the valley is overly photographed. The ponds allow us very unique shots on
many of the parks natural wonders. Pictured here is of course famous
Yosemite Falls and possibly the most famous waterfall in the world. No,
it's not the tallest. That honor goes to Angel Falls in Venezuela.
However it is probably the tallest of the easily accessible waterfalls in
the world making it one of the most photographed.

We were walking along the meadows when I noticed this large pond, well
perhaps it's more of a puddle, but the reflections of the falls was about as
perfect as you could get. The clouds were building towards a forecasted
evening shower making for perfect skies. There was a photographer directly
behind me on a hill but he was in the process of setting up so I pulled the
camera off the tripod which I consider a must for most landscape photography
and took a quick couple of shots of the reflection and moved out of the way
before the other photographer began shooting. This time of year it is hard
to find a spot where there is not a photographer setting up for a shot.
Even the iPhone photographers abound and you can see them with their cell
phones taking shots of the park. So I try to look for something unique and
different than the usual vista points and that is not always easy.
