Not far from beautiful Santa Cruz on the Pacific Coast resides a group of redwoods known as Big Basin Redwoods State Park. As you drive up from the beaches in to the mountains the forest becomes more dense and lush and even in winter the park is a deep emerald green. Arriving just in time for the sunlight to filter down through the forest canopy and illuminate Sempervirens Falls. A small but beautiful waterfall it is just one of many waterfalls in the park this is perhaps the easiest to find and can be seen from the road. It flows best in the winter months but can be seen flowing at a lower rate though most of spring and even in to summer. A thick moss coats most of the redwoods in the area and the forest floor is lush with ferns. To see the parks other, larger falls, will require a bit of hiking.
