Even the greatest monoliths of granite slowly crumble over time. The white streak of fresh granite clearly visible on the distant cliff of El Capitan near Horsetail Fall. Yosemite is a land carved over eons of time and that change is still occurring at a glacial pace which sometimes takes on a sudden and dramatic collapses. I’ve taken many images from Tunnel View and the view has always looked much the same. A recent rock fall has created a bright streak on the distant cliffs. Come February this change in the cliff will have a significant effect on the glow of Horsetail Fall as it glows in the setting sun.
