Next lower the opacity of the brush. I've noted where you can find the opacity bar. I'll explain why this is important in the next step.

It looks pretty good with just the texture overlayed. You could leave your photo just like this if you want. But I want to take some of the texture away from the model's face. To do this, I'm going to use a layer mask. You can add a mask by going down to the bottom of the layers pallete and clicking the icon that looks like a square with a circle in it. I've noted this.

Now scale the texture to fit the photo by dragging the corners in. Double click (see note) when you're done.

Open your photo. Make any adjustments that you'd like, contrast, colour, levels, whatever you usually do, or whatever the photo needs.

Now change the blending mode! For my photos, I tend to use "Multiply" and "Soft Light" the most. But play around with it and try all the different modes to until you get the look you're going for.
