Woke up this particular morning to the sights of this HUGE yacht anchored in the bay, so of course, we had to snap a few shots and do a little research once we discovered who it belonged to. According to wikipedia, Octopus is a 414 foot (126 m) megayacht owned by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft. Delivered in 2003, it was believed to be the biggest such yacht at the time of its construction. It is currently the world's 13th largest superyacht, the fifth largest superyacht not owned by a head of state, and the largest expedition yacht.

Octopus sports two helicopters on the top deck (one in front and one on the back), and a 63-foot (19 m) tender docked in the transom. There are a total of seven tenders aboard. The yacht also has a pool, located aft on one of her upper decks, and two submarines (one of them operated by remote control for studying the bottom of the ocean). Side hatches at the water line form a dock for jet skis.

Don't know about anybody else, but I would sure LOVE to see the inside of that yacht. Have a great Friday, and as always, I appreciate all your visits and comments!!!!!

Had to kill some time this day before our return flight home, so a good flickr friend (MommaD) suggested that we check out the Hatcher Pass area. After visiting Kincaid Park for my daily moose fix (LOL), we decided to take a drive up that way, and boy, we were glad we did. For a brief time, the weather finally cleared up, and we were able to enjoy some nice sunshine and absolutely gorgeous scenery. Even came across this guy who was power paragliding, so we stopped to watch him and snap a few shots. The views from our vantage point were incredible, but I can only imagine how much more spectacular they were for him.

Happy Hump Day....have a great Thursday, and as always, thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!!

I warned everyone last week about all the moose pics and wasn't joking when I said I have a lot...20 different moose in one day when we arrived at Denali National Park; a record for us. Fortunately for me, I enjoy watching and photographing them; hope you don't mind too much :-) This pretty lady was being courted by the cute little bull I posted previously; quite the attractive couple...LOL.

Have a great Wednesday....thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!!

Amazing what kind of images you can capture with an iPhone....I don't use the camera feature that often but decided it would come in handy while we were traveling around Alaska, as I could keep family back home updated on our daily adventures. Didn't even realize it had a panorama feature until I accidentally hit the options button, and well, I had a good time attempting to capture the essence of what we were seeing. Even with all the dreary, rainy weather, it was still a beautiful place to visit. This image was taken in the Knob Lakes area off the Glenn Highway.

Have a great Tuesday, and as always, thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!

Okay, so not the best quality image, and I was going to toss it aside, but the more I looked at it, I thought it was kind of cool to capture this little one's movement, and the blurred background only added to the scene. It was another dreary day, raining a bit, and as we were driving along the road leading to Little Campbell Lake in Kincaid Park (Anchorage), a cow moose and her yearling walked right out in front of us. No time to compose or change the settings, so I just fired away.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend....I managed to get some images processed and caught up with all our laundry. Now it's time for another busy week, so I'll be popping in and out as I can. Have a great one, and as always, thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!
