Lineup: Merit Ariane Stephanos (v), Louai Alhenawi (ney), Alcyona Mick (p), Andy Hamill (b), Antonio Romero (darbuka/frame drum) and guest: Adz [Naeim "Adam" Alnajjar] (beatbox).

Merit Ariane was born in Hamburg with an Egyptian father and German mother. She first came to the UK to study at the University of Edinburgh. Originally trained in Western Classical Music, encountering Sevdah in Bosnia took her towards Arabic music, Over the last decade collaborations with Alcyona Mick in different contexts have connected her with Jazz. I have taken photos of photos of Merit Ariane twice before in 2011 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/meritariane,-shubb...). This peformance was called "Flying on Wings of Birds" and consisted of stories and songs about birds and birdsong.
