18th January 2019 at St Andrew’s in the Square, Glasgow.

Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk.

Lineup: Brighde Chaimbeul (scottish small pipes), Aidan O'Rourke (fiddle), Cormac Begley (concertina), Rona Lightfoot (v).

I saw Brighde Chaimbeul from Skye twice at Celtic Connections 2019: at St Andrew’s in the Square and at the Late Night Sessions. She was playing tunes from her debut album "The Reeling" which was produced by Aidan O'Rourke from Oban and includes 82 year old Rona Lightfoot from South Uist performing caantaireachd (the phonetic singing tradition used to teach pipe tunes). For this concert they were joined by Cormac Begley from Dingle. I photographed Chaimbeul at Sidmouth in 2017 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157687061661363/). I have also taken photos of O'Rouke with Lau and as a guest of Moving Hearts and Phil Bancroft (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/aidanorourke,-brig...), and of Begley with Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and with Cliodhna Begley (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/cormacbegley,-brig...).
In this photo: Chaimbeul plays smallpipes in C made by Fin Moore.
